Water Inspired Interior Railing

“I will miss this work of art”

Modern Flowing Design

Antietam Iron Works was pleased to hear from one of our interior railing customers years later.  She blessed us with these appreciative remarks. “You created a beautiful custom stair railing for our house in Arlington back in 2015.  We are selling the house, and I will miss this work of art. I cannot recall if you were able to get photos of your work at that time.” As with most new builds, the railings are one of the last things to be installed, and things are often rushed as we try to meet deadlines and inspections. As a result good photographs are often overlooked. So we were very thankful when our client shared these pictures with us. We had never seen what they looked liked in the finished home. Due to her thoughtfully reaching out we are now excited to show now this gorgeous railing.

Antietam Iron Works’ goal for this interior railing was to to create a unique artistic design that was inspired by flowing water. In detail, it was made with various diameters of round steel to give it dimension and shape. One of the challenges was to try to retain its elegant, flowing and open feeling while still meeting the building code. (4″ sphere cannot pass through the railing) We worked with a local woodworker to provide the red oak rail cap. We also used a traditional oil-rubbed finish on the ironwork to display the raw beauty of the steel. The result was pleasing to the eye and compliments a stylish home.
